DungeonSwap 8/25 AMA

The first Ask Me Anything session held by DungeonSwap

It was the first time the Founder of DungeonSwap talked to the community. Before creating DungeonSwap, he was a technology consultant of a global management consulting firm. As you may guess he is also a cryptocurrency investor since 2018 during the ICO crash.

In the DeFi world, he was curious and couldn’t accept so many exchanges as “whateverSwap” was created and minted tokens which contain no intrinsic value at all. This planted a seed in his heart to do something meaningful and valuable on Blockchain.

Later on, seeing the launch of BSC he viewed it as an opportunity to realize the vision of building a sustainable, user-centric and entertaining decentralized ecosystem.

As a RPG/Tabletop game lover, he started to group up and build DungeonSwap at 2021, website launched in April, and made the game on production just within 4 months.

Now the DungeonSwap V2 — the P2E feature accompanying NFT Market is under development. The author digested the key points of this AMA as takeaways.

Q1: What’s Relic?

Currently, DungeonSwap has a “Play to Burn” system and will be introducing the “Play to Earn” mechanism in the coming V2 release. The new NFT “Relic” which works like an asset generates cash flow helps users(adventurers) to earn $DND by involving in the gaming experience.

Current Dungeon will stay, but with some modifications to make it better. Still have an entry fee but adventurers may have a chance to get Relic from it.

A new Relic Dungeon will be introduced. It can be entered by consuming the energy of the Relic. There is a minimum reward an adventurer can get depending on how many people play it and how much fund the Dev Team injects into. So how much can you earn? It also depends on the strategy & decisions made by you.

The playing mechanism of Relic Dungeon is supposed to be similar to Normal Dungeon. More RPG specific gaming elements like HP/MP will be added later to enrich the whole experience.

Q2: What’s next for NFT?

With Smithy, adventurers can upgrade NFT levels by burning lower level ones.

In the coming upgrade, craft higher rarity NFT is possible.

Currently we have Basic★ / Copper ★★ / Silver★★★ / Gold★★★★ NFTs. Gold equipment is so far the best we can loot. And in the future Diamond rarity NFTs will be there.

Q3: Plan for NFT Market?

Market will be available with Relic Dungeon. Adventurers can do things like purchase Relic or sell unused equipment in the Marketplace.

As a buyer of Relic, you can purchase it from an official store or from second hand Marketplace.

Q4: How do you think of DND v1

DND v1 was designed to be Play to Burn and we soon realized the majority expects more on a guaranteed earning ecosystem. We received many comments and suggestions after its launch and we quickly responded to build up our P2E system.

We want to create a game that people enjoy playing and apologize for failing some users’ expectations. Now we shift our strategy and will provide a P2E feature — the Relic Dungeon.

Q5: New $DND burning mechanism?

Cannot reveal too much to prevent idea stealing in this competitive booming GameFi industry. But we can assure our players there are ways to burn the token so don’t worry it will affect token price. We’ll control the minting mechanism of the token to build a healthy system.

A marketing plan can be shared that we’ll use funds as initial investment to attract new players on the P2E dungeon. Expect a massive flooding of users to come to play on the day V2 launches.

Q6: Roadmap?

Relic Dungeon & NFT Market are planned to be released in the middle of September. And there will be a beta test before the official launch. For the beta test we’ll invite testers to join the test net. They use fake $DND to play and feel the new gaming experience which simulates actual situations. Collect opinions and feedback to improve the system before global availability.

We are working hard day and night to achieve this V2 dungeon.

HP / MP / PvP comes after the V2 release.

Q7: DungeonSwap compared to other NFT gaming projects?

DungeonSwap is developed on top of Tabletop RPG theme which is designed to be a simple but enjoyable playing mechanism by D20 (20-sided dice). You roll a dice and face the consequences in the game.

And by the nature of Blockchain it cannot afford too much calculation(More calculation means more gas fee involved).

So the combination of Tabletop RPG theme and Blockchain is a perfect match. We want to make it not only lucrative but also can be played with great satisfaction.

Q8: Security on DungeonSwap?

In terms of Security we addressed 2 aspects.

First aspect is server side. Earlier there was a hacker who tried to shut down our website via DoS(Denial of Service) attack. At that time we migrated our server to CloudFlare which is one of the most famous and secure hosting platforms to prevent future compromise by anyone.

Second aspect is the security of blockchain which is the responsibility for developers who write smart contracts. DungeonSwap adopts “future block hash” instead of “history block hash” logic to prevent hacks. It means only after you click a button the randomized result will be generated.

That’s why you can see “Cast Gas Magic” in game, it’s also a feature created by considering the security.

Q9: Reduce BSC gas fee?

We are optimizing the code and we estimate a 50% reduction of gas fee in both Relic/Normal dungeons. We ensure in V2 players can get more rewards than the cost of gas fee.

Q10: Will we have a 100% win rate in battle?

Not realistic to make the win rate to be 100%. There will still be Jackpot in Normal Dungeon and it will keep the Play to Burn modal that adventurers pay existing $DND fees. And players gain $DND & loot NFT when they win.

One thing many users are concerned about is the battle Boosting mechanism. It will be patched and become better but to be noticed there is still a boosting cap for each fight.

Q11: Centralized way to reduce gas fee?

We are exploring all possibilities to do so. For the technical part, as mentioned before we optimize our code to achieve a 50% gas fee deduction after the coming release.

For the UX part, we’ll consider a centralized way to minimize gas fees. However due to the current competing GameFi environment so the V2 delivering time matters, other approaches will be evaluated later.

Q12: NFT improvement?

There will be a scoring system, the better equipment you have the higher score you can get when playing dungeons. And in future PvP mode you’ll definitely want to use a better sword to fight.

Essentially there will be no hard cap when you use better equipment. (Still a cap though)

Q13: Relic Price? Will it be too expensive for new players?

Relic price will be denominated in terms of $DND (price & supply). And there will be different types of Relic to be released for different kinds of adventurers.

For example some Relics will benefit adventurers to enter the dungeons multiple times a day but it’s weaker against monsters. On the other hand stronger Relic against monsters will consume more energy so fewer times you can enter dungeons per day.

And will there be strong Relic good for hunting monsters while enabling the player to enter dungeons many times a day? Yes.

We’ll make different users have options to consider which Relic they prefer and be able to afford. So this is a playing strategy that our users can think about.

Relic itself is very valuable that every player will want to purchase. So remember to join our Relic AirDrop event and try to get one for free.

The return on investment of Relic will be maintained to make sure it’s attractive in Play to Earn perspective. Every single $DND paid to buy a Relic will be worth it.

Compared to other P2E games, we’ll make users use more than one P2E NFT(Relic) in the future. But in the V2 release it will be just one Relic adventurer can bring into the dungeons. It will provide certain power against your enemy.

Q14: Make NFT more valuable?

You don’t need to worry about holding a NFT too strong anymore in V2. And we’ll make Smithy worth being used to make NFTs to be more valuable by upgrading them, and some of those newly crafted NFTs cannot be obtained in the dungeon.

Like Pokemon, you get different levels of them, and in some way you can make them better, even unique compared to what you get in the wild.

And a NFT naming feature is on the todo list.

Q15: Will NFT impact the $DND price in a bad way?

DungeonSwap NFTs close tightly to $DND tokenomics and mechanism. For example people buy $DND in Dungeon Swap and use $DND to purchase the Relic, every transaction and action happens in the ecosystem which is denominated by $DND.

We can assure you $DND will not die. ;)
