Announcement + 2nd Development Log

Dungeon Swap
3 min readMay 19, 2021

Dear fellow dungeon adventurers,

We understand the market is experiencing some severe volatility recently. In light of that, we want to once again emphasize that such volatility is not going to stop us from proceeding with our work. As you probably understand, we have a clear picture and objective, and we are on our way progressing toward it. There is absolutely no reason for us to slow down or stop at this moment no matter how volatile the market is. The worst scenario that the dev can imagine is perhaps something went terribly wrong with Binance or for whatever reason we can no longer use the Binance Smart Chain. But even under such extreme scenario, we still have workaround like seeking an alternative blockchain to migrate our token and launch the project.

Having said that, we understand your concern (and so do we!) you have on the price of DND, therefore we are also doing some marketing campaign to increase our exposure. But at the moment the marketing activity is kept at a moderate level. Towards the launch of the game we will gradually increase our marketing activity so that we can gather more and more people around at launch (and hopefully to bring DungeonSwap into the news!) Below is a quick update on our development progress.

Development progress

This week we are having good progress on our smart contract. There were a couple of boring and yet important issues that we were handling, one of them is random number. As you probably know, each dungeon battle outcome comes from a combination of the user’s decision, the user’s NFT equipment available, the monster’s difficulty, and also most importantly: randomness. And the art of achieving randomness is a big topic in the block chain ecosystem. Because in theory, every thing on the block chain is predictable, and every random number is basically pseudo randomness, meaning they can be hacked (although it might be hard). However, given the dungeon will reward users with DND token which essentially is real money, there is absolutely incentive for people to try hack into the system and predict battle outcome.

The good news is that we have figured out our own way to achieve such randomness! This is much cheaper than the commonly used method like using external oracle service, and yet we are able to achieve randomness ourselves that is impossible to hack, in our unique dungeon environment! How did we do that? Well of course we rather stay quiet on that for now. 🤫

NFT Design and Campaign

We are also at the stage of designing the NFTs in terms of assigning them with metrics that affects the battle outcome. On smart contract level we have now fixed what kind of metrics an NFT equipment should have, and how would they interact with the monsters they are facing.

On the other hand, we need to get the equipment line up to be in place. We want to fill the equipment with details. We also want more narrative or perhaps a short story behind this piece of equipment. We will soon be launching another airdrop campaign encouraging participants to give us idea or design about what possible equipment can there be. You can then visit our twitter announcement for details! You guessed it, we hope to hit two birds with one stone — Using this new airdrop campaign to raise awareness and give us idea of the NFT equipment!

Timeline?

Overall we are making good progress and we are optimistic about sticking with our original timeline of launching the game by Q2~Q3. Given the current progress a best-estimate launch date would be early Q3. We will keep you updated and looking forward to showing you more soon!
